Privacy Policy

The short version

AutoLoanRate.com is a comparison and editorial site. We don't take loan applications, we don't pre-qualify users, and we don't collect Social Security numbers, income, or any other lending information. Most readers can use our site without us collecting any personal data at all.

What we collect

Standard server logs

Like any website, our servers log basic technical information for each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring URL, and a timestamp. We use this data only to operate and secure the site (e.g., debugging, blocking abusive crawlers).

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are popular, where readers come from, and how the site performs technically. Google Analytics sets cookies that may include a randomized user identifier. We have configured GA4 to anonymize IP addresses and we do not link analytics data to any other personal information.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser.

Affiliate referral tracking

When you click an outbound link to a lender, your browser may pass a referral identifier so the lender knows you came from AutoLoanRate.com. The lender uses this to attribute referral compensation to us. We do not pass any other information about you to lenders.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect Social Security numbers, income, employment, or financial account information.
• We do not collect names, mailing addresses, or phone numbers.
• We do not maintain user accounts.
• We do not pull credit or perform any kind of pre-qualification.
• We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we don't collect data that would be valuable to sell.

Cookies, in detail

Cookies set on AutoLoanRate.com fall into three categories:

• Essential — required for the site to function (very few; e.g., to remember mobile-menu state during a session).
• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (described above).
• Outbound referral — set briefly when you click an affiliate link, to attribute the referral.

Children

AutoLoanRate.com is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your rights

If you are a California resident under the CCPA or an EU resident under GDPR, you have the right to request information about, or deletion of, any personal data we hold. Because we do not maintain user accounts and minimize data collection, in most cases the only data we have on a given visitor is server logs (typically retained for 30 days) and Google Analytics records.
